additional battalions will at present be sent Shanghai unless

situation deteriorates further.

1st Bn. Middlesex Regiment will, on arrival Hong Kong,

remain in reserve at disposal G.0.C. Hong Kong.

One Indian battalion is being despatched from India

as reinforcement for Hong Kong. Expected arrive Hong Kong

early September.

One British battalion at Singapore will be prepared

reinforce Hong Kong at short notice from 1st September onwards.

If despatch ordered, this battalion will be replaced by one

Indian battalion which is being held in India ready to move

at short notice.
